Thank you for choosing to be part of our community at MindGard ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your data when you use our Chrome Extension "MindGard".
1. Information We Collect
MindGard requires specific permissions to provide its core productivity and focus features. The data we collect or access includes:
- Web Browsing Data & URLs: To facilitate the website blocking feature, the extension checks the URLs of the tabs you visit to determine if they match your blocked website list.
- Local Settings & Tasks: Your to-do list, Pomodoro configurations, and dashboard layout preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Account Information: When you use our Identity login feature to synchronize your settings or access premium features (MindGard PLUS), we collect basic profile details (such as your email address) provided by your Google account.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly to provide and improve the single purpose of the MindGard extension:
- To enforce your website blocking rules and help you maintain your deep work focus.
- To communicate with AI services (e.g., Gemini API) strictly to evaluate whether a website fits into a distracting category, per your settings. This data is processed temporarily and not used to train AI models by our extension.
- To authenticate your account, manage your subscription payments, and synchronize your data securely across multiple devices.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third parties.
The data accessed by the extension is either kept locally on your device or securely transmitted to:
- Our Backend Servers: For user authentication, data synchronization, and subscription validation.
- Google API Services: Specifically the Gemini API, to process automated text/website analysis for the AI site blocker.
Our use of the data complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies.
4. Required Permissions Justification
- Storage: To save your user preferences, tasks, and site blocklists.
- Tabs / WebNavigation / DeclarativeNetRequest: To monitor navigation and intelligently block distracting websites in real time according to your settings.
